SITE-SPECIFIC

Ken Hiratsuka’s One Line World Project : carving the world as one huge sculpture through the hands of the individual artist. Driven by his belief that art can transcend barriers of language and nationality, Hiratsuka creates site-specific works in different countries and environments, often living with the people and incorporating local cultural stories, events, and icons into the carvings. The sculptures become memorials of a people, a place, and a time.  To date, Hiratsuka’s work can be seen in permanent public sites in both urban and natural environments in 21 countries including Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, Colombia, Germany, Japan, Korea, Italy, Indonesia, Kenya, Finland, Sweden, Mongolia, Turkey, and the United States.
